Good rhymes help bad times

PAIN is sometimes just too deep and too private to express out loud.

Instead, writing a poem can often be an outlet for otherwise unbearable emotions.

Now child bereavement charity Grief Encounter is encouraging kids to deal with the loss of a loved one by putting their emotions into verse.

They have launched the Bad Time Rhymes poetry search, and winning poems will be published in a book in memory of Holly Wells, who was murdered in Soham in August 2002.

Holly’s father Kevin says: “My wife Nicola and I received thousands of poems after Holly’s murder, which was a great comfort to us. I personally find writing therapeutic and poetry in particular is a very powerful tool to express emotions.”
