As Children’s Grief Awareness Week comes to a close, the Childhood Bereavement Network (CBN) launch two short surveys to understand what changes should be made to improve the lives of bereaved children and young people. These surveys are based on the recommendations from the independent UK Commission on Bereavement. CBN, in collaboration with Grief encounter and other charities in the sector, will be using the results of these surveys to influence the Government about what changes should be made – making sure that the voices of bereaved children and young people are at the heart of their influencing work.
These surveys can be completed in around 8 minutes. They do not ask about any bereavement experiences, although there is one question to clarify if the child or young person has been bereaved. Any child or young person can participate, and CBN advises that a parent, carer or other trusted adult is present for support. Parents and carers are required to give permission to complete the surveys for those under 16 years of age. The surveys close at 5pm, Thursday 30 November 2023.
